Rex is a fun loving four and a half year old boy that loves to play outside with chalk and enjoys eating his favorite food, Cheetos! When Rex’s mother first learned that he was diagnosed with Autism it caused a lot of questions. Rex’s mom states, “I knew nothing about Autism so I had fear of the unknown. My heart filled with fear for my son and the challenges he was going to face on a daily basis.”
Rex started receiving services at Easter Seals in 2014. He currently receives speech and occupational therapy. Rex’s biggest struggle is communication. He is nonverbal, so his therapy has focused on other ways to socialize. Rex has become more mindful of his surroundings and is starting to develop a purpose with his intentions. This is what makes Rex a Champion of his own abilities.
Favorite story about Rex from his parents:
“I love how Rex will line up his gummy bears by color, in order of the rainbow, before he eats them."
